When your hotel looks like a spaceship 🚀 Starting the week with the incredible Atlanta Marriott Marquis, a 52-story hotel in Atlanta, Georgia 🍑 It is the 14th tallest skyscraper in the city and was designed by @portmanarchitects with construction completed in 1985 🙌 The defining feature of the Marriott Marquis is its huge atrium. It was the largest in the world upon its completion in 1985, at 470 feet high. The atrium spans the entire height of the building and consists of two vertical chambers divided by elevator shafts and bridges. #ThrowbackThursday to the incredible @HyattRegencyAtl, in Atlanta, Georgia, designed by @portmanarchitects 🙌 In 1967 this hotel’s revolutionary architecture introduced the atrium concept to contemporary hotel design, forever changing the nature of hospitality environments through an innovative, practical and profitable approach. The success of the original project (which consisted of 800 guest rooms) quickly prompted the addition of two guestroom towers. Today with its natural light, sculpture, trees and water features, the interior resembles a large outdoor piazza bordered by a sidewalk cafe.
