Have you heard of Izamal in Mexico? Also known as the yellow city and it’s easy to see why. It’s located in the Yucatán around an hours drive from Valladolid. And whilst many people just spend a day there, as we did, we would have loved to stay even longer! So what is there to do there? ☀️ Izamal has a wonderful Mayan history and so there are a few sites within walking distance of the centre that are absolutely worth checking out ☀️ Wander around the yellow monastery ☀️ Take photographs! Izamal is an insanely photogenic city and on top of that the local police patrolling were more than happy for us to fly our drone which is unsual! So another reason to visit! ☀️ Eat at one of the local cafes and get chatting to the locals. Granted this will only work if you speak a little Spanish but that said I’ve got through many conversations using body language and facial expressions when my Spanish has failed me and in Izamal, the locals are so incredibly friendly!
