6 tips for renting a car in Namibia 🇳🇦🚙 1. Namibia has 64.799 km of road, of which only 7841km is paved. That’s why we advise to rent a 4x4 off road vehicle. We rented ours at @zambezi_car_rental_namibia and we couldn’t have asked for a better car with roof top tent for this trip! 2. Make sure you know how to replace a flat tire. Because of these roads, you are more likely to have one. 3. The speedlimit on gravel roads is 100km/hr, but we highly recommend that you stick to a speed limit of 60-80km/hr, because of the unpredictable wildlife and occasional bad parts of the roads. On public roads within an urban area and in national parks, the speedlimit is 60 km/hr and 120 km/hr on paved freeways. 4. Distances in Namibia are sometimes very long and you can drive 100 kilometers without meeting anything or anyone. Therefore, do not postpone refueling, but fill your fuel tank as soon as you can! 5. In Namibia, it is mandatory to have your headlights on all the time, day and night time. 6. Mobile service on the road is very poor. It is therefore wise to download maps and playlists in advance.
