When you are in Sri Lanka.. it is an absolute must do to have a ride with this charming train 🚂 Save this post to have all you need to know ready for your Sri Lanka trip 💾 ROUTE The most popular journey is from Ella to Kandy but this takes about 8h one way without considering possible delays, if you have little time in the country this might be quite a commitment. We took the shortest route just from Ella to Badulla. It only takes 45 minutes but you’ll get the full experience and also ride over the famous Nine Arch Bridge (twice if you go back and forth). The train ride to Nuwara Eliya maybe even more scenic (more rivers, waterfalls, and tea plantations to cross), but it is also longer 🌿 TICKETS 🎟️ We purchased the tickets at the station just before hopping on the train. But you can also get them online in advance through 12asia.go or busbud. Will be a good option for the long route 🧭 Second and third class gets quite packed and most people hang by the open doors but we felt they had the most charm. Filled with locals doing their own things, a lot of life and friendly interactions! Looking for a mountain getaway? ⛰️ Save this post for your trip to Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 Ella should be on everyone’s itinerary and in our four weeks tour around the island, this hotel was the first place we really wanted to stay longer: @sereniteella It‘s not overpriced, you‘ll have an awesome view across the valley for sunrise and sunset, can do yoga on the balcony, the staff is lovely and helpful and you have a restaurant and spa on site & you can see a waterfall from your room - we also love to stay at small boutique hotels 🌄 The only downside: Ella is a mountain town so for the view you have to take into account that you‘ll have to walk up some hills. We didn‘t mind because we had our Tuktuk with us, but just so you know 😉 Have you been to Ella or wanna go there? 🤗 ____________ Auf der Suche nach einem Ausflug in die Berge? ⛰️ Speicher dir diesen Beitrag für deine Reise nach Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 Ella sollte unbedingt auf deiner Reiseroute stehen, und während unserer vierwöchigen Tour über die Insel war dieses Hotel der erste Ort, an dem wir unbedingt länger bleiben wollten: @sereniteella Es ist nicht überteuert, man hat einen tollen Blick über das Tal bei Sonnenaufgang und Sonnenuntergang, kann Yoga auf dem Balkon machen, das Personal ist nett und hilfsbereit und es gibt ein Restaurant und ein Spa vor Ort & du kannst einen Wasserfall vom Zimmer aus sehen - wir lieben es einfach, in kleinen Boutique-Hotels zu übernachten 🌄 Der einzige Nachteil: Ella ist eine Bergstadt, also muss man für die Aussicht in Kauf nehmen, dass man einige Hügel hinauflaufen muss.
