Start the day by visiting the Colosseum, one of the most famous landmarks in Rome. Get there early to beat the crowds and take a guided tour to learn about the history of the amphitheater. After exploring the Colosseum, walk over to the Roman Forum which was the heart of ancient Rome. Here, you will see the ruins of ancient government buildings, temples, and markets.
Afternoon
After a morning of history, take a break and enjoy some traditional Italian cuisine at one of the many restaurants near the Colosseum. After lunch, head to the Pantheon, a former Roman temple that is now a church. Marvel at the impressive dome and the intricate details of the architecture.
Evening
End your day by visiting the Trevi Fountain, one of the most famous fountains in the world. Make sure to toss a coin over your shoulder into the fountain, as legend has it that doing so guarantees a return visit to Rome. After that, head to Piazza Navona, a beautiful square with three impressive fountains and plenty of street performers and artists.
Morning
Start your second day in Rome by visiting the Vatican City. Take a guided tour of St. Peter's Basilica, the largest church in the world, and admire Michelangelo's famous sculpture, the Pieta. After visiting the church, head to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel. Marvel at the stunning frescoes and sculptures, including Michelangelo's masterpiece, the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
Afternoon
After a morning of art and history, take a stroll through the Trastevere neighborhood, known for its narrow cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, and lively atmosphere. Stop for lunch at one of the many trattorias in the area and enjoy some delicious Roman cuisine. After lunch, head to the Campo de' Fiori, a bustling square with a daily market selling fresh produce, flowers, and souvenirs.
