Then, continue on to Fern Canyon, a lush canyon with fern-covered walls that has been featured in movies like Jurassic Park. End your afternoon with a picnic at Gold Bluffs Beach, where you can take a stroll along the beach or dip your toes in the Pacific Ocean.

Wake up early to catch the sunrise at the Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway. This winding road offers stunning views of the redwoods and is a great spot for photography. Then, head to the Tall Trees Grove Trail, a 4-mile round trip hike through some of the tallest trees in the world.

After your hike, stop for lunch at the Trees of Mystery, a quirky roadside attraction that features a gondola ride through the forest and a collection of bizarre tree formations. Then, head to the Smith River for an afternoon of swimming, fishing, or kayaking.

Then, head to the Battery Point Lighthouse for a tour of this historic lighthouse, which has been in operation since 1856.
