Morning
Start your day early with a hike around Devil's Tower National Monument. The Tower Trail is a 1.3-mile paved trail that loops around the base of the tower and provides amazing views of the tower and the surrounding landscape. Dogs are allowed on the trail but must be kept on a leash at all times. If you and your furry companion are up for a longer hike, the Red Beds Trail is a 3.5-mile trail that takes you through a variety of landscapes and provides stunning views of the tower from different angles. Make sure to bring plenty of water for both you and your dog, as there are no water sources along the trail.
Afternoon
After your hike, head to the picnic area near the visitor center for a well-deserved break. The picnic area has tables, grills, and restrooms, and is a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery. If you're feeling adventurous, you can try your hand at rock climbing on the tower. The park offers climbing permits and equipment rentals, and there are several climbing routes of varying difficulty levels. Dogs are not allowed on the climbing routes, so make sure to plan accordingly.
Evening
As the sun starts to set, head to the prairie dog town near the Belle Fourche River for some wildlife viewing. Prairie dogs are abundant in the area and provide endless entertainment with their antics. Keep your dog on a leash and stay at a safe distance from the prairie dogs, as they are wild animals and can bite if provoked.
