Begin your day with a scenic train ride from Zurich to Meiringen, which takes about two hours. Once you reach Meiringen, take a local bus or a taxi to reach the Aare Gorge. The gorge is open from early May to late October, and it s best to visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds.

Explore the stunning Aare Gorge on foot, a natural wonder with towering rock formations, crystal-clear water and narrow pathways that make for an unforgettable adventure. The 1.4 km walk takes about an hour, and you ll pass through tunnels and over bridges that offer breathtaking views of the gorge. For the more adventurous, there are also guided tours that include rappelling and rock climbing.

Head back to Meiringen and visit the Sherlock Holmes Museum, located in the center of the town. The museum is dedicated to the famous detective Sherlock Holmes and his creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. You can explore the Victorian-era rooms and see exhibits related to the detective's adventures.
