Start your day by visiting the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ajanta Caves. These caves are a collection of 29 Buddhist rock-cut cave temples, dating back to the 2nd century BC. The caves are located about 100 kilometers from Aurangabad, so it is recommended to hire a taxi or take a bus for a day trip.
Afternoon
After returning from Ajanta Caves, head to Panchakki, a water mill built during the Mughal era. The mill was used to grind grain for the pilgrims who visited the nearby mosque. The complex also includes a garden and a mosque, and it's a great spot for a picnic lunch.
Evening
End the day with a visit to Bibi Ka Maqbara, also known as the mini Taj Mahal. Built in the 17th century, this mausoleum was constructed in memory of Aurangzeb's wife, Dilras Banu Begum. The monument is a beautiful example of Mughal architecture and is surrounded by lush gardens.
Morning
Today, visit the Ellora Caves, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. The caves are a collection of 34 rock-cut cave temples, featuring Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain monuments. The site is about 30 kilometers from Aurangabad, so again, it's recommended to hire a taxi or take a bus.
Afternoon
After returning from Ellora Caves, visit the Aurangabad Caves. These 12 Buddhist caves are located within the city limits and date back to the 6th and 7th centuries AD. The caves are known for their intricate carvings and sculptures.
Morning
Start the day by visiting the Daulatabad Fort, located about 15 kilometers from Aurangabad. This 14th-century fort was built by the Yadava dynasty and later captured by the Mughals. The fort features a series of gates, ramparts, and water tanks, and offers a stunning view of the surrounding landscape.
Afternoon
After returning from the fort, visit the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum in Aurangabad. The museum is dedicated to the life and times of the great Maratha warrior, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The exhibits include weapons, armor, paintings, and sculptures from the medieval period.
