Start with a hike up to the summit of Mt. Horrid via the Oak Ridge Trail. The trail is not too difficult, but the views from the top are incredible.

After the hike, head over to Branbury State Park and enjoy a picnic lunch on the beach. Take a swim in the clear waters of Lake Dunmore or rent a kayak or paddleboard from the park's rental office.

Take a scenic drive up to Middlebury and explore the charming town. Visit the Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History, the oldest community-based museum in the country.

After the museum, grab lunch at The Storm Caf , a local favorite for its farm-to-table cuisine and riverside patio. Then, head back to Branbury State Park and spend the afternoon fishing on Lake Dunmore or hiking the trails in the park.
