Morning

Start your day with a hike through Capitol Reef National Park's Hickman Natural Bridge. It's a moderate 1.8-mile roundtrip hike, and the bridge itself is a stunning natural rock formation that spans 133 feet.

Afternoon

After your hike, explore the park's scenic drive, stopping at the many pullouts along the way to take in the incredible views of the park's red rock formations and canyons. Be sure to visit the park's historic Fruita district, where you can pick fresh fruit in the orchards and visit the Gifford Homestead, a pioneer-era home turned museum and gift shop.

Evening

Relax and enjoy dinner at Cafe Diablo, a local favorite with excellent Southwestern cuisine and a great selection of craft beer and wine. Be sure to try the "diablo burger," made with local grass-fed beef and topped with roasted green chilies and chipotle mayo.

Spend the morning on a scenic drive through the Waterpocket Fold, a geologic feature that runs for nearly 100 miles through the park. Along the way, stop at the various trailheads and overlooks to take in the stunning views of the red rock formations and canyons.

Afternoon

After your drive, head to the park's Cathedral Valley district for some more off-the-beaten-path hiking and sightseeing. The Cathedral Valley Loop is a 57-mile backcountry road that offers breathtaking views of the park's most remote and rugged landscapes, including the Temple of the Sun and Temple of the Moon rock formations.

Evening

End your day with dinner at The Rim Rock Restaurant, located at the park's historic Capitol Reef Resort. The restaurant offers panoramic views of the park's red rock formations and serves up delicious American and Southwestern cuisine, with plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options.
