Morning
Start your day with a visit to the Diocesan Museum, which houses some of Cortona's most precious works of art, including paintings by Luca Signorelli and Fra Angelico. Afterward, take a stroll through Piazza della Repubblica, the town's main square, surrounded by medieval buildings and home to the Palazzo Comunale.
Afternoon
In the afternoon, take a short walk to the Museo dell'Accademia Etrusca, where you can learn about Cortona's Etruscan history and admire artifacts such as pottery, bronze statues, and gold jewelry. If you're feeling adventurous, head to the nearby Parco Archeologico del Sodo to explore the ruins of an Etruscan tomb.
Evening
As the sun begins to set, make your way to the top of the hill where you'll find the Fortezza Medicea. This 16th-century fortress offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. After taking in the sights, head to Trattoria Toscana for a delicious dinner featuring local specialties such as pici all'aglione (a regional pasta dish with garlic and tomato sauce) and bistecca alla fiorentina (a grilled T-bone steak).
