Begin your day by visiting Helsinki's most iconic landmark, the Helsinki Cathedral. This beautiful neoclassical cathedral sits atop a hill overlooking the city and is a must-see. After taking in the sights, head to the Old Market Hall for a Finnish breakfast of rye bread, smoked salmon, and creamy cheese.
Afternoon
Spend your afternoon exploring the charming streets of Helsinki's Design District. This district is full of unique shops, galleries, and cafes, and is a great place to pick up some Finnish design. While in the area, stop by the Temppeliaukio Church, also known as the Rock Church, which is carved entirely out of rock and has incredible acoustics.
Morning
Take a day trip out of Helsinki to the Nuuksio National Park. This beautiful park has miles of hiking trails, lakes for swimming, and even a chance to see some Finnish wildlife. Be sure to pack a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park.
Afternoon
After returning to Helsinki, spend your afternoon exploring the city's art scene. The Kiasma Contemporary Art Museum is a great place to start, with its ever-changing exhibits of modern art. For a more traditional art experience, head to the Ateneum Art Museum, which houses a large collection of Finnish art.
