Take the train to Kawagoe, a historic town known as "Little Edo" for its well-preserved Edo-era buildings. Make sure to visit the Kawagoe Festival Museum to learn about the town's famous festival and see the gorgeous floats on display.
Morning
Take a day trip to Nikko, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Japan's most beautiful destinations. Visit the Toshogu Shrine, a stunning complex of ornate buildings and elaborate carvings. Don't miss the famous "hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil" monkeys on the stable roof.
Afternoon
After lunch, head to Lake Chuzenji to take in the breathtaking scenery and visit the Kegon Falls, one of Japan's most famous waterfalls. If time permits, take a boat ride on the lake or visit the nearby Ryuzu Falls.
