Begin your day in Metapan with a visit to the historic Parroquia de San Pedro Apóstol. This church has been standing since the 16th century and is an excellent example of colonial architecture. After the church, head to the Parque Central to grab some breakfast from one of the many street vendors selling delicious pupusas, a traditional Salvadoran dish made of corn dough stuffed with beans, cheese, or meat.
Afternoon
After breakfast, take a stroll through the Parque Central and admire the beautiful trees and flowers. If you're lucky, there may even be a local festival or market happening in the park. From there, head to the Ruinas de Tazumal, an archaeological site just outside of Metapan that dates back to 500 AD. Explore the ruins and learn about the ancient Mayan civilization that once inhabited the area.
Evening
End your day with a visit to the nearby Lago de Coatepeque. This stunning volcanic crater lake is surrounded by lush green hills and is the perfect place to relax and take in the natural beauty of El Salvador. Grab dinner at one of the many lakeside restaurants and watch the sunset over the water.

Start your day with a trip to the Finca El Carmen, a coffee plantation just outside of Metapan. Take a tour of the plantation and learn about the coffee-making process from bean to cup. After the tour, enjoy a delicious cup of coffee and some traditional Salvadoran snacks.
Afternoon
After your coffee tour, head to the nearby town of Juayua for the famous Feria Gastronomica, a weekly food festival that takes place every weekend. Sample some of the best food El Salvador has to offer, including pupusas, tamales, and mariscadas (seafood platters).
Morning
Take a trip to the nearby town of Santa Ana, known for its stunning architecture and rich cultural history. Visit the stunning Gothic-style Catedral de Santa Ana and the Teatro de Santa Ana, a beautiful historic theater.
Afternoon
After exploring Santa Ana, head to the Lago de Coatepeque for some water activities. Rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard and explore the lake's crystal-clear waters. Alternatively, take a boat tour of the lake and learn about its history and ecology.
Morning
Start your day with a hike up the nearby Volcan de Santa Ana, the highest volcano in El Salvador. The hike takes around three hours and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
Afternoon
After your hike, head to the nearby town of Apaneca for a visit to the Casa de la Cultura, a cultural center that showcases the history and traditions of El Salvador. Take a tour of the center and learn about the country's indigenous cultures and colonial history.
Morning
Spend your last day in Metapan with a visit to the nearby Laguna Verde, a beautiful green lagoon surrounded by lush vegetation. Take a picnic and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Afternoon
After your visit to the lagoon, head back to Metapan for a visit to the Museo de la Ciudad, a small museum that showcases the history and culture of the city. Learn about the city's founding and its role in El Salvador's history.
