Start your day with a boat ride along the Ganges River at sunrise to witness the city come to life. The Ghats, or steps leading to the river, are a highlight of the city and are best seen from the water. After the boat ride, head to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, one of the holiest temples in the city, to witness the morning Aarti ceremony.
Afternoon
After the ceremony, head to the colorful and chaotic streets of Varanasi's old city. Wander through the narrow alleys and take in the sights and sounds of the bustling bazaars. Stop for lunch at Kachori Gali, famous for its spicy kachoris and chaat.
Morning
Start your day with a visit to the Sarnath Archaeological Museum to learn about the history of Buddhism in the region. Then head to the nearby Deer Park where Buddha is believed to have given his first sermon.
Afternoon
After lunch, visit the Banaras Hindu University to see the Bharat Kala Bhavan Museum, which has a collection of Indian art and artifacts. If you have time, stop by the New Vishwanath Temple, a modern temple built in the 1960s.
Evening
Spend your evening at the Manikarnika Ghat, one of the holiest places in Varanasi. This is a cremation ghat where Hindus come to cremate their loved ones. While it may seem morbid to some, it is an important part of Hindu culture and a fascinating place to witness the rituals and traditions surrounding death.
