Morning
Start your day with a visit to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple (Golden Temple) , one of the most important Hindu temples in India dedicated to Lord Shiva. Afterward, head to the Dashashwamedh Ghat , one of the oldest and most important ghats (riverfront steps) on the Ganges River (Ganga) , to witness the daily morning aarti (prayer ceremony).
Afternoon
Explore the Varanasi Ghats (Banaras Ghats) , a series of ghats along the Ganges River that are considered sacred by Hindus. Take a boat ride to see the ghats from the water and get a different perspective of the city. Stop at Kedar Ghat for lunch at one of the many street food stalls that serve delicious local cuisine.
Evening
Spend the evening at Manikarnika Ghat , the main ghat for Hindu cremations. While it may seem morbid to some, it is considered a sacred and important ritual in Hinduism. If you're uncomfortable with the idea, you can still visit the ghat and witness the activity from a distance. End your night with a visit to the Dhamek Stupa and Chaukhandi Stupa , two important Buddhist monuments in Sarnath, just a short distance from Varanasi.
