Start your day by driving from Seattle to Bozeman, Montana, which is the closest city with an airport to the park. It's about a 9-hour drive, but you can break it up with some stops along the way, such as a visit to the Grand Coulee Dam or a hike in the Columbia River Gorge.
Afternoon
Once you arrive in Bozeman, check into your hotel and explore the town. Bozeman is a charming college town with plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops to keep you entertained. Try Ted's Montana Grill for a delicious bison burger or the Bozeman Taproom for some local craft beer.
Morning
Wake up early and make the 90-minute drive to the park's north entrance. Once you're inside the park, head straight to Mammoth Hot Springs, which is one of the most unique geological features in the park. Take a walk around the boardwalks and marvel at the colorful terraces and bubbling hot springs.
Afternoon
After Mammoth Hot Springs, drive south to Norris Geyser Basin, which is the hottest geyser basin in the park. Here you'll see steam vents, hot springs, and geysers, including the world-famous Steamboat Geyser.
Morning
Today is all about wildlife watching. Start your day with a sunrise hike or drive through Lamar Valley, which is known as the "American Serengeti" due to its abundance of wildlife. Look out for bison, elk, wolves, and bears.
Afternoon
After Lamar Valley, head to Hayden Valley, which is another prime spot for wildlife viewing. You can also take a short hike to the Yellowstone River Picnic Area for a scenic lunch break.
Morning
Today you'll explore the park's famous geysers. Start with an early morning visit to Old Faithful, which is the most famous geyser in the park and erupts approximately every 90 minutes.
Afternoon
After Old Faithful, head to the Upper Geyser Basin to see other geysers such as Castle, Grand, and Daisy. You can also take a hike to Mystic Falls or Biscuit Basin.
Morning
Today is your last day in the park, so make the most of it! Start with a visit to the Mammoth Hot Springs again, this time taking a different trail or boardwalk to see a different perspective.
Afternoon
After Mammoth Hot Springs, head to the Tower-Roosevelt area of the park, which is less crowded and features some great hiking trails. You can also visit the Lamar Buffalo Ranch or the historic Roosevelt Lodge.
